The Story of Stories: Stories started in 2005. Creator Carissa Reiniger, and some friends got women to submit stories about the men in their lives. After only 6 weeks, hundreds of stories were submitted. After appearing on Canada’s national morning show, multiple publishers approached Reiniger with offers to publish the yet unnamed and un-planned book. Realizing she was onto something, Reiniger self published Stories From Our Black Books Vol.1 (The Book) in November of 2005. The Book sold out within weeks of its release. In 2007 the vision to turn The Book into a play turned to reality, It toured through Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary in the fall of 2007. Reiniger then decided it needed music. Six original songs were written and the play was work-shopped again in Toronto in Feb of 2008. With a six-week Toronto run of Stories in May/June of 2008 The Play continued to develop. Realizing the potential of the brand and not just the products that were being created, Reiniger went back to the drawing board and built a team, a larger vision and action plan to take Stories to a place where it is now – a social brand, focused on women, with global impact and lots of fun! The Current Story: After much anticipation, and with hundreds of more juicy stories from women ”STORIES FROM OUR BLACK BOOKS” Vol.2 has been born! The Book is a compilation of the juiciest, the most moving, the funniest and the most influential stories that were submitted! The new version of The Book is scheduled to launch publicly February 14th, 2010, you don’t want to miss out on getting your copy before everyone else.
